Learn from our enthusiastic instructors the latest tools and techniques used by today’s leading VR Designers. Create VR-ready assets, interactive experiences, UI, and more. With a combination of live and pre-recorded classes we’ll give you the tools to build your own VR world.
This course teaches you the core concepts of VR design in Unity. Over 8 weeks, you’ll create a personal project and a team project in collaboration with the VR Developer cohort. You’ll learn how to utilize the XR Interaction Toolkit, implement UI/UX, basic animation, Lighting, VFX & Post Processing, LOD Groups, Spatialized Audio, Optimization techniques for VR, and how to craft your own Avatar. The first class of each week focuses on learning core concepts. The second class is working in teams on projects.
Introduction to Unity, version control, and XR project development with a 360 video project.
You'll learn the basics of project creation, including storyboarding and how to plan out an application. Week 2 is when you learn to work in a team and delegate tasks while working in Unity.
Get setup with Oculus and Unity Pipelines, walkthrough the XR Interaction Toolkit, and begin our first steps in Unity VR. You'll cover all the aspects of setting up VR projects.
A busy week focused on objects in Unity, and manipulating how they look, including their level of detail at a distance. Plus an intro to Unity's Physics Engine. We will also do a deep dive into Lighting.
Introduction to Prefabs, a way to store GameObjects as reusable assets. We'll show you how to use Unity's Animation system to move objects around in your scene. We'll demonstrate how to use Particle Systems and Post Processing to add visual polish to your scene.
We'll cover how users represent themselves with Avatars. Learn how to implement 3D audio in Unity as well as how audio spatialization works in VR. We'll cover Unity's Canvas system for UI, as well as how to make your UI more responsive with animations.
Create the complete user experience by building avatars and designing an onboarding experience. Plus dive deeper into Unity' Physics capabilities to create surprisingly delightful interaction.
During the final week we’ll take the opportunity to have an open Workshop and fine tune each of the projects. Instructors will be available to answer your questions and assist you on bringing your projects to completion.
